The engineering menu offers a way to create different engineering specifications for optical network calculations.

Create an Engineering Calculations Spec File

1. From the Bentley Comms menu, select Fiber/Copper/ISP-Setup >Engineering > Create.

   

2. The Engineering Calculation Spec File dialog box opens.

   

3. Key in a name for the new spec file.
   Note: Multiple Engineering Spec Files can be created and used for different purposes in Bentley Comms.
4. Select the number of wavelengths to track.
5. Key in individual wavelengths to be monitored in this spec.
6. If the Inplant Assoc. check box is selected, the Engineering Calculation Spec can be used in tandem with and will recognize, placed Bentley Comms Inside Plant equipment.
7. Click Create to save the spec file.
8. The Engineering Calcs dialog box for the spec file opens if the Fiber module is previously loaded.

   

9. Click Setup to complete equipment specification.

Import an Engineering Specification

1. From the Bentley Comms menu, select Fiber/Copper/ISP-Setup >Engineering > Import.

   

2. The Engineering Calculation Spec File dialog box opens.

   

3. Key in a Specification name and click Create.
4. The Engineering Calculation Import File opens.

   

5. Select an engineering spec .aec file and click OK to complete the import process.
