Bentley Fiber

Review

The Review command displays all the information in a dialog box that relates to a selected fiber device.

Review a Device

  1. From the Fiber menu, select Populate > Review.

  2. Select a fiber device on the map to review.

Span Review

The Span Review dialog box displays routing, fiber, and sheath information.

The Routing Information section includes the MSLink number, location of fiber (either aerial or underground), strand location, X and Y coordinate and Strand linkage.

The Fiber Information section displays the amount of fibers for the selected span, an override value if you elect to override the design, and an accumulated value.

The Sheath Information section displays the model, link and reel number, owner, description, span length, sag length, sheath length and pole number.

Links Review

Selecting Links displays a dialog box showing the MSLink number of any devices linked to the device being reviewed.

Duct Review

Selecting a duct path for review will open the Bentley Duct Element Review dialog box to display the spans within a given conduit.

Custom Attributes

Change or Review the Custom Attributes of a Span

  1. From the Span Review dialog box, click on lower right More.
  2. The FIBERSPAN_CA dialog box opens.

  3. Modify the current span attributes as necessary and click Update.
Note: The More button and the FIBERSPAN_CA dialog box will only be available if custom attributes for the span were initially created in the database. Refer to the administration guide for more information on creating custom attributes.
Note: A More button is also available for the fiber sheath, which is a combination of many fiber spans. It will only be available if custom attributes for the fiber sheath were initially created in the database.

Node Review

Select a node to review. The Node Review dialog box opens displaying routing, fiber, node, and connection information.

The Fiber Information section displays the amount of fibers required for the selected node.

The Node Information section displays the model ID, name, manufacturer, owner, pole number, and description.

The Connections section includes the node internal names, sheath name/number, buffer and fiber colors and distance to the headend. Any node internal name may be selected, and if a customer has been assigned, the Cust button is available for selection. Clicking Cust opens a Customer Review dialog box that displays the customer account number, name and priority number.

The Term (terminate) button locates the termination point of each fiber and populates the remaining columns of the Node Review dialog box including Distance to Headend.

Selecting the Levels button displays a Node Input Levels box. This box indicates the Node internal names, level, minimum level, maximum level, AsBuilt (actual level reading), calculated input level and the pad amount used to keep the level between minimum and maximum levels.

Selecting More opens the custom attribute dialog box of the node (only available if created initially in the database).

Attach Document to Node Case and Node Internals

  1. From the Attachment section, click Show to view the list of attachments assigned to this enclosure.
  2. If there are no documents attached to the node, the following Information dialog box displays.

  3. Click OK to exit.
  4. Select the Edit button under the Attachment section.
  5. The Edit Attachments dialog box opens.

    Note: An attachment can be any of the following: a picture (jpg, gif, bmp file); PDF document; Excel spreadsheet; Word document, etc. For picture attachments (jpeg, gif, png, etc), the default program to open the file must be defined as MS Paint.
  6. Click the Attach Document button.
  7. The Attach Document - C:\Bentley... path opens.
  8. Select the image or document and click Enter.
  9. Click Show to open the attached document.
  10. The Attach Document dialog box closes and the image or document moves to the Edit Attachments dialog box.
  11. To enter additional images or documents, re-select the Attach Document button.
  12. Click Close to exit.
  13. Click Apply to save the additions.

Change or Clear Document Attached to Node

  1. From the Attachment section, click the Show button.
  2. The Edit Attachments dialog box opens displaying the list of documents attached to the node.

  3. To attach additional documents to this node, select the Attach Document button.
  4. To delete a attachment from the node, highlight the document from the list and select the Clear Document button.
  5. To view the document attached to the node, highlight the document from the list and select the Open Document button.
  6. Select Close to exit the Edit Attachments command.

Building Review

The Building Review dialog box displays routing and building information.

Selecting Links displays a dialog box showing the MSLink number of any device linked to the device being reviewed.

Selecting More opens the custom attribute dialog box of the building (only available if created initially in the database).

Selecting Show or Edit opens the document attachment dialog box.

Selecting Levels displays the Building Input Levels dialog box.

Splice Review

The Splice Review dialog box displays routing and splice information.

Selecting Links displays a dialog box showing the MSLink number of any device linked to the device being reviewed.

Selecting More opens the custom attribute dialog box of the splice enclosure (only available if created initially in the database).

Selecting Show or Edit opens the document attachment dialog box.

Head End Review

The Headend Review dialog box displays routing and headend information.

Selecting Links displays a dialog box showing the MSLink number of any device linked to the device being reviewed.

Selecting More opens the custom attribute dialog box of the head end (only available if created initially in the database).

Selecting Show or Edit opens the document attachment dialog box.

Selecting Levels displays the Head End Input Levels dialog box.
