Sheath Information

The Sheath Info command places or updates fiber sheath information stamps on the drawing.

Post

Post Sheath Information

  1. From the Fiber menu, select Populate > Sheath Info > Post.

  2. The Select Sheath Info Cell dialog box opens (if more than 1 sheath info is defined in the Fiber/Copper/ISP setup).

  3. Select a cell type and click OK.
  4. Select a span on the map.
  5. Place the Sheath Information Cell on the map. Information of the selected sheath displays in a cell as defined in the Sheath Information Setup dialog box.

Update

Update a Single Sheath Information Stamp

  1. From the Bentley Fiber menu, select Populate > Sheath Info > Update > Single.

  2. Select a span or the Sheath Information Cell. The information contained in the cell reflects the updated sheath information.

Update All Sheath Information Stamps

From the Bentley Fiber menu, select Populate > Sheath Info > Update > All.

Note: This command will update information represented in ALL fiber sheath information stamps in the Comms project. The time to run this command depends entirely upon the amount of data in the Comms database.

Check

The Check command reports on utilized fiber within a sheath.

Check Fiber Utilization

  1. From the Fiber menu, select Populate > Sheath Info > Check.

  2. Select the method to determine the availability of fibers, Num Fibers, or Percent.
  3. Key in the maximum number or percent of spare fibers to be checked.
  4. Select the Ownership and click OK.
  5. If the keyed-in/selected criteria are met, the Sheath Utilization Report dialog box opens.

    The information can be output to a text file for printing or imported by selecting Output > Text File. Sheaths meeting the criteria are highlighted on the fiber map.

  6. Click Cancel to close the display box.
