HEC-22 Energy (Third Edition) - Angled Inflows

One component of Total Additional Structure Losses () is the energy loss due to angled inflows.

See also: HEC-22 (Third Edition) Additional Structure Losses.

All angular piped inflows to the structure of interest are considered when computed this component loss. In effect, this energy loss is the weighted sum of all angled inflows to the structure. Generally, a composite angled inflow coefficient () is calculated, and then applied against the known Entrance Loss.

= composite angled inflow coefficient

= Relative Entrance Loss (See also: HEC-22 (Third Edition) Entrance Loss).

The aggregate coefficient term () is used in procedural steps for the junction loss at the structure. It is also secondarily computed for, and reported on, each individual incoming pipe for additional review purposes.
