Creating Child Classes
Asset classes may have Child classes. Creating a Child class is the same as creating a Parent class, except that for each child class, a relationship must be established to its parent class. In AssetWise, a class hierarchy is established through relationships, not by nesting classes when they are created.
Only leaf node classes may have instances, and because of this, all asset classes, (root and children), will be created as peers.
The following tasks are involved in adding child classes to the AssetWise datasource:
- Adding an Asset class to the AssetWise datasource
- Adding Attributes to the Child class (optional)
- Adding a Relationship to the Parent class
- Creating custom forms (optional)
