To Select By Structural Criteria

  1. Select the Structural criteria option. The Selector-Criteria-Structurtal dialog appears.

  2. Click on the triangular icon to show the items.

    The sections expand.

  3. Set criteria in each section.
  4. In the Structural Geometry section, the following criteria can be set:
    • Section – enter section or pick on from Structural Sections dialog by clicking Select button.
    • Rotation – enter angle of rotation up to 360 degree about the member centroid, if the criteria to select rotated geometry.
    • Mirror – set on if the structural geometry in the selection to pick flipped elements.
    • Placement point – set the location of the baseline relative to the member section by selecting from the drop list items. Ten placement options are available: Bottom Left, Bottom Center, Bottom Right, Center Left, Center Center, Center Right, Top Left, Top Center, Top Right, and Centroid (for fully symmetric sections).
  5. In the Structural Data section, the following criteria can be set:
    • Fillet – set on if the fillets between member flanges and web are designed.
    • Mark – set the part prefix Id mark, such as B-1 (Beams), C-1 (Columns), P-1 (Purlins), etc.
    • Type – set the type that identifies the category of the component, such as Beam (Beams), Column (Columns), Handrail (Handrails) etc.
    • Material – set the material type of the component, such as Steel, Timber, Concrete etc.
    • Grade – set material specifications standard, such as A36, A50 (steel), 4000psi (concrete), etc.
    • Status – set the part position, such as New or Old. Class – set the part order as a class of the component, such as Primary, Secondary, Framing etc.
    • User1 .. user 4 – enter the user defined variables associated with the component being selected.
    • End1/End2 Action – specify the end action such as 12.0K, 14.0K for the component.
    • End1/End2 Detail – specify the end action such as Type I, Type II for the component.
  6. In the Cope/Trim Info section, the following criteria can be set:
    • Cope/Trim – select one of the options to filer the selection for – Member has at least one feature OR Member has no feature.
    • Web Clearance – set the value of the clearance space between structural member webs in coping.
    • Flange Clearance – set the value of the clearance space between structural member flanges in coping.
    • Inside Corner Treatment – select the inside corner treatment from the pop-up options: squared off, rounded radius, or squared off corner with notch.
    • Inside Corner Radius – set the value of the radius of the inside corner treatment.
  7. Review the Structural criteria definition.

This criteria selects New primary class steel beams marked B-1, having grade A36, and fillet; and the section W40X362 structure aligned at Bottom Center is mirrored. • Structural Geometry criteria set to Section: W40X362, Rotation: 0.0, Mirror: On, and Placement Point: Bottom Center • Structural Data criteria set to Fillet: On, Mark: B-1, Type: Beam, Material: Steel, Grade: A36, Status: New, Class: Primary, End1 Action: 12.0 K, and End1 Detail: Type • Cope and trimming info criteria set to Cope/Trim: Member has at least one feature, Web Clearance: 0.0, Flange Clearance: 0.0, Inside Corner Treatment: squared off corner with notch, and Inside Corner Radius: 0.4 • Filters all structural beams satisfying above criteria

  8. Return to the Select By Attributes dialog and click Apply.
