Automatic Annotations in Building Dynamic Views

Drawing models created by Building Dynamic Views can be automatically annotated using Building rules. These rules are exposed in the Architectural, Mechanical, and Structural tabs of the View Attributes dialog, Building panel, for the dynamic view reference that is attached to a Drawing model. Each rule corresponds to individual Building element types, with regard to how it should be annotated. Architectural rules leverage DataGroup Annotation Cells for Architectural elements, while Mechanical and Structural rules leverage that of Drawing Rules.

Auto annotation runs whenever a Building dynamic view is created, referenced, or opened in a drawing or sheet model. It also runs when relevant dynamic view reference settings are modified. In the Building dynamic view drawing or sheet, you can also manually invoke the auto annotation process using the Refresh Automatic Annotations ().

Auto annotations are created in the dynamic view drawing model. Once created, they are not regenerated by subsequent auto annotation processes unless their associated rules have changed. Auto annotations are dependent upon the underlying annotated element. So, if the annotated element is moved or deleted, the annotations follow suit. Auto annotations can even manually moved, and when this happens their new offset is preserved when the annotated element is moved.

To hide an auto annotation, select the annotated element and right-click > Hide Annotation. To show a hidden auto annotation, right-click > Show Annotation. When right-click > Reset Annotation is selected, the auto annotation is regenerated from it's rule. You can also delete it, in which case it is regenerated the next time the auto annotation process runs.
