The Ribbon bar Home tab is the primary location for a majority of operations in AECOsim Building Designer. The Home tab provides several tool groups. Tool groups contain individual tools that have related functions.

The Home tab tool groups are arranged in an intuitive workflow order from left to right starting with floor and roof tools followed by room creation tools. Finally there are sub-surface placement tools for adding windows, doors, fins and surface components as well several modification tools.

• Floors group – Contains tools used for modeling floors and roofs in your building project. A building must contain at least one floor before rooms can be modeled.
• Rooms group – Contains tools used for modeling rooms using traced walls or selected shape elements.
• Embedded Surfaces group – Contains tools used for placing sub-surfaces objects such as windows, doors, fins, and components on room surfaces.
• Global group – Contains a global editing utility used to make changes to the whole project or to targeted areas of the project using selection sets or fence.
• Measure group – Contains tools used for measuring distances in the project building by entering datapoints.
• ASM Group – Contains tools used to validate Analytical Space Models (ASM).
