Assumptions

  1. The effect of any horizontal links perpendicular to the length of the wall will be ignored, but the effect of horizontal links occurring along the length of the walls will be considered in determining the shear capacity of the wall group.
  2. The contribution of a wall segment to shear resistance of the whole section cut is proportional to the projection of its length in the direction of shear resistance being considered. Walls oriented perpendicular to the direction of shear design will not contribute to the shear resistance.
  3. Vertical longitudinal reinforcement can either be present in 2 layers (at each face of the wall) or in one layer (along the midline of the walls).
