Beam Design Output
RAM Steel Beam output is designed to provide the engineer with all necessary data for review of, and calculation for, the gravity design. Everything from beam design description to floor maps can be obtained. Consequently, the need for hand calculations is virtually eliminated for the design of gravity load resisting members.
Below is a summary of the reports available in the Beam Design module. A more complete explanation of RAM Steel Beam Design output follows. The on-line help also provides information on the output reports.
- Beam Criteria
- A listing of the currently specified beam design criteria.
- Joist Criteria
- A listing of the currently specified steel joist design criteria.
- Beam Design Report
- A one or two page report showing the full input and design parameters for the selected beam or beams. All beams in the model (), all beams on the Floor Type (), an area of beams (), or a single beam () may be selected.
- Gravity Beam Summary Report
- A one line summary of the designs for all gravity steel beams in the Model, including size, studs, moments, etc.
- Web Opening Summary Report
- A one line summary of the web opening designs for all steel beams with web openings in the Model, including size, stiffeners, etc.
- Floor Map
- A graphical map of the selected floor type showing the beam numbers or designs for each beam on the floor. Loads and Decks can also be shown. The whole Floor Type () or an area of the Floor Type () may be selected.
- Load Diagram
- A diagram of the design loads on the beam.
- Gravity Beam Reaction Summary Report
- A summary of all the gravity beam reactions to assist in the design of connections or for inclusion into the CAD Drawing. All reactions are shown as unfactored forces.
- Gravity Beam Deflection Summary Report
- A summary of all gravity beam deflections and the required beam camber.
- Gravity Beam Frequency Summary Report
- A summary of all composite beam frequencies. Available only when BS 5950 is selected as the steel design code.
- Framing Check Report
- A list of all framing situations where a larger beam frames into a smaller beam.
- Connection Check Report
- A report listing all beams with their reactions where the reaction exceeds the maximum allowable reaction for a typical connection. Typical allowable reactions are provided in a table created by the user.
- Transverse Reinforcement Check Report
- A report listing all composite beams with their required transverse reinforcement where the required reinforcement exceeds the available reinforcement specified by the user. Available only when BS 5950 or Eurocode EN 1994 is selected as the steel design code.
- Gravity Beam Takeoff Report
- A complete takeoff of the gravity steel beam sizes in the database, providing the total length and weight of each size of each grade on each Floor Type, and providing the total length and weight for each size and grade in the entire structure.
