The User Defined setting on a foundation member can be set from the View/Update dialog boxes using the Update Database button or through the Freeze Design option. Foundations that have the User Defined setting will be colored Blue when designed. The main purpose of this option is to remove the optimization flags on a member so that its design is checked as column/wall loads, soil properties, surcharge loads and base plates for the foundation are changed.

• To Freeze the design on a foundation member select the Single, Fence, or All under the Freeze Design option in the Process menu.
