Adding a Snow Load Property

There are two types of snow load properties that can be added: Constant and Drift. A constant snow load property applies the same load to the entire load polygon.

A drift snow load property varies along the surface of the load polygon. The drift is defined by a plane and therefore three drift magnitudes must be defined, although they need not be three distinct magnitudes. For example, if the high and low magnitudes of the drift load are known, Magnitude Points 1 and 2 can both be defined as the high magnitude and Magnitude Point 3 can be defined as the low magnitude. When the snow load polygon is defined, two vertices of the polygon corresponding to the high magnitudes will be selected for Magnitude Points 1 and 2 and one of the points corresponding to the low magnitude will be selected for Magnitude Point 3.

SettingDescription
To add a Constant snow load property:
  1. Select Constant for the Type.
  2. Type the snow load magnitude.
  3. Click Add to add the property to the list.
To add a Drift snow load property:
  1. Select Drift for the Type.
  2. Type 3 Drift Magnitudes. These magnitudes correspond to 3 vertices of the snow load polygon when it is modeled.
  3. Click Add to add the property to the list.
