For high shear loads, the moment capacity is reduced as required by Clause 5.3.4.

If the plastic moment capacity of the composite section exceeds 2.5 times the plastic moment capacity of the steel beam alone, additional checks are performed as required by Clause 5.4.5.4.

Only beams with Class 1 or Class 2 flanges, based on the classification allowed by Clause 4.5.2, are selected by the program as composite beams. Only beams with Class 1 or Class 2 webs are selected by the program as composite beam. Otherwise, the beams are designed as noncomposite.
