Continuous Footing - Results Tab

The Results tab is used to interactively change the footing's design and see the effect of those changes. When this tab is selected it will be populated with the current design values of the footing dimensions and reinforcement. By changing the values and pressing the Redesign button alternative designs can be checked.

SettingDescription
Dimensions The Dimensions work similarly to that of the Assign Geometry dialog box. If the Optimize check box is selected the footing is optimized in that direction using the minimum value defined in the Optimization Criteria dialog box up to the maximum value defined in the Assign Geometry dialog box. If the Optimize option is not selected, a text box becomes available for entire of the fixed footing dimension in that direction. The w1 and w2 dimensions can not be optimized for continuous footings.
Reinforcement This area is used for studying the effects of modifying the reinforcement on the final design. Select the desired reinforcement category from the drop down list box to view the provided reinforcement. The picture of the footing will display the locations on the reinforcement segments on the elevation drawing of the footing.
Optimize Reinforcement Checking this option indicates that the given reinforcement category will be optimized by RAM Foundation. Unchecking this option permits the user to modify the optimized reinforcement.
Editing reinforcement The reinforcement in the given category can be edited if Optimize Reinforcement is unchecked for that category. Only the fields that are white can be edited. The reinforcement size can be selected from the list of bars that have been assigned to flexure reinforcement through the Design Criteria dialog box Reinforcement tab. The number of bars can be any number larger then or equal to zero. A value of zero indicates that there is no reinforcement for the given segment. New segments can be added by completely filling in a new line in the reinforcement category table. Only the Ends of reinforcement segments can be edited for longitudinal and shear reinforcement. The start of the subsequent segment is automatically filled in when the cell loses its focus. Segments can not be edited for transverse reinforcement.

Changes to any property on this tab will invalidate the current design. The View Results and Update Database buttons will gray and will not be available again until a Redesign in done.

If the Update Database command is issued, the dimensional and reinforcement data from this tab will be saved along with the design of this footing.
