Moving Grids and Data

Individual grids can be moved using the Change and Move commands in the Orthogonal Grids and Radial Grids dialog boxes, and entire grid systems can be moved and rotated using the Change command in the Create / Edit Grid Systems dialog box. When grids are moved, any columns associated with those grids are automatically moved as well. In turn, any beams framing into those columns are moved, and any beams framing into those beams moved. Thus beams are stretched and rotated as necessary to maintain their connection to the supporting members. When a girder is stretched or shortened in this way, the spacing of the supported beams is modified to maintain the relative spacing. For example, if a girder supporting beams at third points of its original length is shortened or elongated, the beams will be repositioned so that they are supported at the third points of the new length. They keep their relative spacing rather than their absolute spacing.
