Assigning Sizes

It is not necessary to assign sizes to Cellular Beam; the optimum size and cell configuration will be selected automatically by the program in the RAM Steel Beam module. However, sizes can be assigned in RAM Modeler by the user if desired, using the Layout > Westok Cellular Beam > Assign Beam Size command. The user may assign sizes for Cellular Beams from either the Default or Alternate Cellular Beam Design Table, as specified in the Cellular Beam tab in the Criteria > Design Steel Tables command in the RAM Manager.

The selection of a Cellular Beams size requires a selection of a Top Tee and Bottom Tee size from the list of sizes provided in the Assign Beam Size dialog box. When assigning sizes, some trial-and-error may be necessary to determine the best cell configuration.

When a size is assigned to a Cellular Beam, values for diameter and pitch may also be specified through the Assign Cell Size command. Similarly, the Clear Cell Size may be used to clear a user-specified pitch and/ or diameter.
