Diaphragm Section Forces

The Diaphragm Section Forces report lists section forces calculated along a user-defined cross-section line on a selected diaphragm. Reported values are equilibrium-based force/moments resultants, calculated at mid-length of cross-section.

The report indicates cross-section line geometry (start and end location). Results are reported for all load cases analyzed in terms of Axial, Major Shear, Minor Shear, Major Moment, Minor Moment and Torsion. The report also contains a picture of the diaphragm and visually shows where cross-section line is located on the picture.

In case of section cut crossing one or more beams, the report lists results separately: one set of resultants for combined diaphragm and beams, and one set for diaphragm only.

In addition, the report includes results of force/moment values at discrete points along section cut. Contrary to cross-section resultants, discrete location values show variation of forces and moments along section cut. Note that number of discrete point locations increase when mesh density is increased.
