Layout - Slab - Slab Penetrations

The Layout - Slab - Slab Penetrations command is used to place penetrations in the concrete slab. Slab Penetrations are similar to Slab Openings except that loading over the area is still applied to the adjacent beams.

The purpose of Slab Penetrations is to limit the effective flange widths of composite beams. It is used to account for such things as minor mechanical openings through the concrete slab, which affect the effective flange width.

If a frame column happens to fall within a penetration the column will be disconnected from the rigid diaphragm in the RAM Frame analysis.

Selecting the Layout - Slab - Slab Penetration command will cause the Slab Penetration Layout dialog box to appear.

Return to the Slab Penetration Layout dialog box with the Right Mouse Button or the "D" key.

Return to the Layout - Slab menu with the "M" key.

Clicking the Cancel button or selecting any other RAM Modeler Layout command will end the Layout - Slab - Penetration command.
