Layout - Braces - Assign Frame Fixity

The Assign Frame Fixity command is relevant only to Lateral Frame braces and is used only by RAM Frame. This command is used to assign end fixity conditions to the lateral braces in the model.

Selecting the Layout - Braces - Assign Frame Fixity command causes the Assign Frame Fixity dialog box to appear. The dialog box contains three groups of option buttons: one for the major axis, one for the minor axis and one for torsion. The left set of option buttons in each group pertains to the top end of the brace while the right set of option buttons in each group pertains to the bottom end of the brace.

Braces, by default, are pinned. To modify the frame fixity, select the appropriate option buttons. The current end fixity conditions can be displayed on the screen using the Options - Show Frame Fixity command.

Click either Single or Fence.

SettingDescription
Single: Click the target cursor on the brace whose fixity you would like to change.
Fence: Fence an area in which the current fixity will be assigned to all braces.

Return to the Assign Brace Fixity dialog box with the Right Mouse Button or the "D" key.

Return to the Layout - Braces menu with the " M" key

Clicking the Cancel button or selecting any other RAM Modeler Layout command will end the Layout - Braces - Assign Frame Fixity command.
