Selecting the Criteria > Design command will cause the Design Criteria dialog box to appear. The maximum slenderness for a brace section in compression can be entered into the text box.

Clicking OK will save the maximum slenderness settings. Modifying the effective length factor after a code check has been performed will invalidate the results of the code check. The model will be redrawn on the screen in its original colors (as opposed to the code check colors), indicating the code check must be re-run.

Clicking Cancel will return you to RAM Frame in steel mode without changing the slenderness setting.

Refer to BS5950:Part1:1990, Section 4.7.3.2 (b) and (c), for more information. While BS5950-1:2000 does not have a direct reference similar to that in BS5950-1:2000, this option remains available for all both design codes.
