Edit Item Dialog

Used to manage properties of item type/s associated with an element (including cells).

You can access this tool from the contextual menu that is displayed on right-clicking on an element with Item Type attached.
Note: For parametric cells, Edit Item option will show in the right-click contextual menu only if item type is attached directly to the cell after placement. If Item Type is attached to the cell or its variations in the cell library, this option will not show in the contextual menu after placement."


SettingDescription
Item Shows the list of item types attached to the selected element.
Show Allows you to select an option from the following:
  • All - Displays all the item type properties.
  • Value assigned only - Displays only those item type properties that have values associated with them.
Search Allows you to search for specific properties to display.
(Technology Preview) Display Text ON/OFF Allows you to display the Item Type Properties as Text. You can place the text for the selected element as follows:
  • Display Text ON – Will display the Item Type properties values as text when placed.
  • Display Text OFF – Will not display the Item Type properties values as text when placed.
Note: When you select the element, you can view the Item Type information and the text node as a single text node in the Properties Dialog.
Group Displays the name of the item type and it's property definitions. You can edit item type properties here.
Text Style Allows you to select a Text Style from the drop-down menu. After selecting, the selected text style is the active text style
Note: You will be able to select a Text-Style for the text in Edit Item dialog, if there is no text already placed. You can add or modify Text-Styles from the right-click Edit Text option. The Text Editor Window opens. You can change the text style from the drop-down menu.
Annotation Scale Lock Allows you to change the annotation scale on the Item Type text field. This lock is synchronized with the icon in the Locks dialog Box and under the Utilities Tab. If you turn ON/OFF the Annotation Scale Lock in either of the three (Attach item dialog box, Locks Dialog box, and Utilities tab), it will reflect in all these three places.
Level Drop-down Allows you to place Item Type Text on selected level from drop-down menu. You will see all the levels available in the DGN in this drop-down, along with options like Active level and Match Element Level. Active Level lets you place the text on the active level in the DGN. With Match Element Level, you can place the text on the same level as the element. You no longer have to activate the level in the level manager to place the text. This will save time while placing the Item Type text. The Default level shown here is the default level from the level manager.
Update Based on the function, displays one of the following:
  • Place Text


    (Available when the Display Text ON/OFF toggle is ON) Allows you to place the Item Type properties as text in the design when there is no text placed from the selected properties
    Note: The Item Type text will be placed with respect to the view orientation.
  • Update


    (Enabled when you modify the value of properties in the Edit Item dialog) Allows you to save any changes made to the item type properties.
  • Update and Place Text


    (Available when the Display Text ON/OFF toggle is ON and values of the properties are modified) – Allows you to update and place modified values as text.
Cancel Exits the dialog without saving any changes made.
Note: (Technology Preview) You can edit the value of text driven by Item Type property in the Edit Item Dialog. The dialog opens when you double click on the Text Field associated with an Item type. You can also view and edit the Item Type Text in the Edit Item dialog available in the Attach Item Dialog properties section. Also, the Item Type Text will be placed with respect to the view orientation.
