MS_DEFCHARTRAN |
Default character translation table. |
MS_DESIGNFILTER |
Default file filter for the MicroStation Manager, Open, and Save As dialog boxes. If MS_DESIGNFILTER is not defined, the default filter is “*.dgn”. |
MS_DGNOUT |
Directory containing DGN files created as a result of “on the fly” translation from other file formats. |
MS_DISALLOWFULLREFPATH |
If set, MicroStation PowerDraft does not save the full path to references. By default, MicroStation PowerDraft stores both an abbreviated (portable) path and the full path to references. |
MS_DWGINSERTLAYER |
Specifies the layer to which normal (unshared) cells and reference attachments are assigned when saving the open DGN file in DWG format. If this configuration variable is not defined, layer 0 is used. |
MS_DWGSAVETEXTSYLETEMPLATENAME |
Naming template for DWG text styles automatically created when saving a DGN file as a DWG file for fonts in which text was placed without using a text style . In the template, %s indicates the font name. If this configuration variable is not defined, the template defaults to Style-%s. |
MS_DWG_PLANARPOLYLINES |
If defined as “3DPOLYLINE,” planar line strings that are not parallel to the X-Y plane or that have non-zero elevations will be saved to 3D polylines when the open DGN file is saved as a DWG file. Otherwise, planar line strings will be saved to 2D “LightWeight” polylines. |
MS_GUIHAND |
Identifies auxiliary handlers. |
MS_HELPPATH |
Path to help resource files. |
MS_INITAPPS |
List of initial start-up MDL applications. |
MS_JAVA_OSS |
Sets the maximum Java/JMDL stack size for any thread. |
MS_JAVA_SS |
Sets the maximum native stack size for any thread. |
MS_NEST_COLORADJUSTMENT |
If set to any value, the nested reference color adjustments at each level are multiplied by this value. If not set, the color adjustment for the top level reference controls the color adjustment for all nested references. |
MS_OLDUSERLICENSE |
File that contains old user license information. Required for when installing a product upgrade. |
MS_OPENDESIGNFILEFILTER |
Initial file filter list for the MicroStation Manager and Open dialog boxes. |
MS_OPENREFFILEFILTER |
Initial file filter for the Attach Reference File dialog box. |
MS_REF_DONTHILITEFORMANIP |
By default, MicroStation PowerDraft hilites all elements in a reference file when the reference is manipulated. If this variable is set to any value, this hiliting is disabled. Disabling speeds up the reference manipulations but makes it more difficult to see which references are being manipulated. |
MS_REF_NEWLEVELDISPLAY |
If set, MicroStation PowerDraft displays newly created levels in references. By default, when new levels are created in a model that is referenced by another model, the new levels are not displayed when the referencing model is opened. Newly created models are considered until “Save settings” is performed. This functionality only works when both the master file and referenced files are in the V8 file format. |
MS_RIGHTLOGICKB |
If set to 1, keyboard input is right to left. |
MS_RSRC |
Main MicroStation PowerDraft resource file. Typically set to “msdraft.rsc.” |
MS_USERLICENSE |
File containing MicroStation PowerDraft license information. |
MS_USERPREF |
User preference resource file. |
As an alternative to using the Configuration dialog box (Workspace > Configuration), you can define a configuration variable from the Key-in window using the key-in EXPAND SET. For example, to create a configuration variable MYFILE having as its value the name of the open DGN file, key in EXPAND SET MYFILE = $(_dgnfile) — note that there must be a space both before and after =.
You can also use configuration variables as parameters in key-ins. For example, to create a cell whose name is the name of the open DGN file (without the extension), key in $ CREATE CELL $(basename(_dgnfile)). In this example the first $ is an alias for the key-in EXPAND KEYIN. In other words, the key-in EXPAND KEYIN CREATE CELL $(basename(_dgnfile)) is equivalent. The second $ indicates what follows in parentheses is a configuration variable.
![]() | To check the value of a configuration variable, key in EXPAND ECHO $(<configuration_variable>) — for example, EXPAND ECHO $(MS_DESIGNSEED). The value is displayed in Message Center. |
