Extensions Configuration Variables

The following table lists the configuration variables that affect extensions. Each configuration variable expects a valid value. An invalid value will not override a setting. You do not need to close and restart in order for the configuration variable change to take effect.

Description

MS_GROUPPANELPREF

Defines the location of the file that stores the saved state of group panels in various dialogs. These include dialogs such as View Attributes, and stores the open state of the groups, as well as any custom settings that the dialog can associate with the groups.

MS_TASKDIALOGPREF

Defines the location of the file used to store preferences about the Tasks dialog between sessions. This file stores info such as the last active task, the last active task dialog, and the task layout mode. Users should not modify this file.

MS_DOCKINGPREF

Defines the location of the file that stores docking preferences such as which dialogs are docked, where they are docked, and the size of the docking areas.

TF_NOCOMPATIBILITYWARNING

Determines whether or not a backwards compatibility warning is displayed upon startup. If undefined, the warning appears. Define with any value, and the warning is not displayed.

MS_DEFAULT_SOLID_EXTENT

Allows you to override the default Solid Working Area from 1 km. This variable is set to 0.0 to disable the Feature Modeler dialog from opening.

MS_VBAGUIDREFERENCES

Adds a GUID reference to the VBA project. If a COM interface is registered with a GUID, this variable will inform the product to add the reference to the project.

TF_DATASET_CPART_NOAUTOLOAD

Do not load portions of Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) dataset into memory. 0=no (do load), 1=yes (do not load). Note: Parts are always loaded into memory.

TFDATASET_COMP_NOAUTOLOAD

Instructs Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) whether to automatically load components at startup time. Set the value of this variable to 1 to avoid automatically loading components.

TF_CACHEDIR

To designate a central location for Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) *.TFB and *.HST files. If TFBREP_NOTFILLCACHE is set to 1, this variable is not applicable.

TFBREP_COMPRESSCACHE

Reduces the size of Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) *.TFB files through compression. Undefined = no compression; if set to anything = uses compression. If TFBREP_NOTFILLCACHE is set to 1, this variable is not applicable.

TFBREP_NOTFILLCACHE

Prevents the creation of *.TFB files. If set to 0, files can be created. If set to 1, files cannot be created.

TFPART_CACHE_RENDER

Specifies whether part materials are cached between rendering updates. A value of 0 disables caching, a value of 1 enables caching.

TFPART_RENDER

Specifies whether render-by-part is enabled. A value of 0 disables this feature, a value of 1 enables it.

TFDIR_SETTING

Location of miscellaneous settings files, used by Frame Builder, Truss Builder, etc.

TFDIR_DATA

Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) loads section files one at a time. To load multiple sections files, see Bentley Structural's user guide for information about the STRUCTURAL_SHAPES configuration variable.

TFDIR_COMP

Specifies the location of component libraries.

TFDIR_CELL

Specifies the location of compound cell libraries.

TFDIR_CPART

Specifies the location of compound part libraries.

TFDIR_PART

Specifies the location of parts libraries.

DG_UDL_PATH

Location of DataGroup System Universal Data Link files.

DG_SCHEDULES_DIR

Location of DataGroup System Schedule Layouts.

DG_SAVEAS_HTML_XSL_FILE

Location of the style sheet file used to save DataGroup System XML reports to HTML.

DG_PRINT_XSL_FILE

Location of the style sheet file used to print DataGroup System XML reports.

DG_DISPLAY_XSL_FILE

Location of the style sheet file used to display DataGroup System XML reports.

DG_DEFAULT_XSL_FILE

Location of the default XSL File for the DataGroup System.

DG_SCHEDULE_LAYOUT_PATH

Location of DataGroup System Schedule Layouts.

DG_CATALOGS_PATH

Location of custom catalog types, catalog type extension files, catalog items, and custom catalog items used by the DataGroup System.

DG_PATH

Building datagroup schema paths.

TFDIR

Specifies the location of the root dataset, which is required to run Bentley Building (formerly TriForma).

TF_DATASETS

Points to the location of the Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) datasets.

TFDIR_EXE

Specifies the location of Bentley Building (formerly TriForma) tool executable files. Tools include the datagroup definition and catalog editors and the Interference Manager, and are launched from the interface.

TFDIR_ECAPPS

Specifies the location for ECAPPS.

TFDIR_MDLAPPS

Specifies the location where MDL applications are stored.

TFDIR_ASSEMBLIES

Specifies the location for dynamic link libraries (DLL's) required for running Bentley Building (formerly TriForma).

MS_SKETCHUP_IMAGE

Stores the texture images that are embedded in the SketchUp files when the SketchUp file is saved as a DGN file.

PWDIR

This variable appears only if Bentley i-model Composer is integrated with ProjectWise and it points to the location of the ProjectWise working directory.

KS_STRUCOBJ_DISPLAYMODE

Determines if structural objects are displayed in rendering mode. If set to 0, do not display in rendering mode; if set to 1, display in rendering mode. The default is 1.

KS_WORKFRAME_DISPLAYMODE

Determines if workframes are displayed in rendering mode. If set to 0, do not display in rendering mode; if set to 1, display in rendering mode. The default is 1.

KS_BOLT_DISPLAYMODE

Determines if bolts are displayed. If set to 0 they are not displayed. If set to 1 they are displayed. The default is 1.

KS_HOLE_DISPLAYMODE

Determines if holes are displayed in true extrusion. If set to 0 they are not displayed. If set to 1 they are displayed. The default is 1.

BUILDING_APPS

Enables support for Building applications. Valid values: 0 and 1. 0 or (undefined) = No support for Building applications. 1 = Building applications are supported.

TFIFC_NOVERTICAL

This configuration variable has no effect in SELECTseries 3 and later editions.

TFDIR_IFC

This configuration variable has no effect in SELECTseries 3 and later editions.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_CONNECT_TO_PROJECT

Set to 1 in configuration file to connect to the AutoPLANT project database. If a project database is not available then AutoPLANT gets data from the drawing.

Set to 0 to not connect to the AutoPLANT project database. It gets data from the drawing.

To avoid system performance issues and increased memory usage, set the variable to 0.

MS_DWG_MAX_DICTIONARYITEMS

Specifies the maximum number of dictionary items that are loaded from a DWG file. Dictionary items correspond to named groups in AutoPLANT DWG models. Setting this variable to a higher value will enable Bentley i-model Composer to open larger AutoPLANT DWG models. When working with large AutoPLANT DWG models and unable to see items in the Items dialog, increase the value of this variable.

By default, set to 50000.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_CREATE_FASTENER_INSTANCES

Fasteners (gaskets, bolts, welds, etc.) are automatically inserted by AutoPLANT to connect various AutoPLANT components. To view the data for Fasteners in the Items dialog, this configuration variable must be defined. Fastener components may not be required for review. Excluding them can improve the performance when creating i-models as well as decrease the size of the resulting file. This variable is important when generating i-models for clash detection because the fastener information is used for suppressing false interferences.

If set to "0", fasteners will not be processed. If set to "1," they will be processed and output to the i-model.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_PROJECTOBJECTS_FILTER

Semi-colon delimited list of Project Objects for which instances and relationships should be created. This is a subset of the project objects listed in the configuration variable AUTOPLANT_PDW_DEFAULT_PROJECTOBJECTS. The default is LINENUMBER.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_DEFAULT_PROJECTOBJECTS

Semi-colon delimited list of Project Objects that are available in the AutoPLANT project. Each entry contains two values separated by a colon that indicate the name of the project object and the name of the relationship that relates the project object to the piping components in AutoPLANT. The default is LineNumber:LineHasComponent;Area:AreaHasComponent;Unit:UnitHasComponent;Service:Service has Component;Spool:Spool Has Component.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_OPENPLANT_SUPPLEMENTAL_SCHEMAS

Defines the name(s) of the supplemental schema(s) to be used if AUTOPLANT_PDW_USE_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA is set to 1. The default is OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Mapping_AutoPLANT.08.11;OpenPlant_3D_Supplemental_Information_3DComponent.01.00.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA

Defines the name of the schema to be used if AUTOPLANT_PDW_USE_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA is set to 1. The default is OpenPlant_3D.08.11.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_SUPPLEMENTAL_SCHEMAS

Defines the name(s) of the supplemental schema(s) to be used if AUTOPLANT_PDW_USE_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA is set to 0.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_SCHEMA

Defines the name of the schema to be used if AUTOPLANT_PDW_USE_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA is set to 0. The default is AutoPlantPDWPersistenceStrategySchema.01.00.

AUTOPLANT_PDW_USE_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA

Determines which set of configuration variables are used to define the schema used by the plug-in.

If set to 0 (the default), use AUTOPLANT_PDW_OPENPLANT_SCHEMA and AUTOPLANT AUTOPLANT_PDW_OPENPLANT_SUPPLEMENTAL_SCHEMAS to define the schema.

If set to 1, use AUTOPLANT_PDW_SCHEMA and AUTOPLANT_PDW_SUPPLEMENTAL_SCHEMAS to define the schema.

XMPLANT_SETTINGS_FETCH_APP_PROPERTIES

Imports the Application Properties from the XMpLant model. If set to 1 (default), fetches the Application Properties from the XMpLant model; if set to 0, does not fetch the Application Properties from the XMpLant model.

XMPLANT_SETTINGS_USE_LAST_CREATED_MODEL

Used during XMpLant import to control whether to regenerate the intermediate JSM model. Setting this value to “0” will give faster performance.

ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_NAME_PIW

Name of the grouping class to be instanced when generating the component model for a P&ID drawing. Refer to the JSpace Class Editor Guide for details on grouping classes.

ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_NAME_PSDS

Name of the grouping class to be instanced when generating the component model for a PSDS\PlantSpace DGN file. Refer to the JSpace Class Editor Guide for details on grouping classes.

ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_NAME_PDS

Name of the grouping class to be instanced when generating the component model for a PDS DGN file. Refer to the JSpace Class Editor Guide for details on grouping classes.

ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_LIBRARY_PIW

Name of the class library that contains the grouping class (defined as ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_NAME_PIW) to be instanced when generating the component model for a P&ID drawing.

ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_LIBRARY_PSDS

Name of the class library that contains the grouping class (defined below as ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_NAME_PSDS) to be instanced when generating the component model for a PSDS\PlantSpace DGN file.

ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_LIBRARY_PDS

Name of the class library that contains the grouping class (defined below as ECOM_CONNECTION_GROUPING_CLASS_NAME_PDS) to be instanced when generating the component model for a PDS DGN file.

PROJECT_LIBRARIES

Defines the class libraries (schemas) to be used to generate the in-memory component model.

PS_CODES_DB

Contains PlantSpace database information. The value should be DSN(data source name);UID(user id);password. UID and password are optional.

PS_PROJ

Used to define the directories that JSpace searches for the PlantSpace “rimref.dat” file as well as any custom JSpace class libraries. The value of this variable is appended to the JPATH variable automatically. The format of the variable is: Directory1;Directory2;...

MS_DWG_MAX_ORPHANTAGS_PERSET

DWG orphan tag performance setting. This setting improves the display update of the orphan tags. The recommended value is 100.

MS_DWGSAVEAPPLICATIONDATA

Linkage data and type 66 application elements can be saved from DGN to DWG. If set, the applications are stored as XRECORDS and the linkages as XDATA. Valid values are on (or no value) and off. The default is off.

Used to define the directories that JSpace searches for class libraries and other JSpace resources. The format of the variable is: Directory1;Directory2;...

MS_POINTCLOUD_APPS

Loads any specified MDL applications along with the PointCloud Handler whenever a point cloud is attached in a model. To load the MDL application every time you attach a point cloud, add the name of the MDL application to this variable.

MS_SELECTSERVICESHOME

URL of Bentley SELECTservices home page.

MS_ROSEDB

Rose database directory.

MS_STEPLOG

Output directory for Step log files.

MS_IGESLOG

Output directory for IGES log files.

MS_IGESINSET

Settings file for IGES import.

MS_REALDWG_APPS

Lists the adapters for cooperative object enablers that will be loaded into the product when it starts.

MS_GPSDEVICES

Specifies the GPS devices supported by Bentley i-model Composer. It should not be changed by users.

MS_GEOCOORDINATE_REPROJECTIONSETTINGS

Directory where Bentley i-model Composer stores the reprojection settings. There is rarely a need for users to change it.

MS_GEOCOORDINATE_REFSETTINGS

Directory where the default reference reprojection settings are stored. There is rarely a need for users to change it.

MS_GEOCOORDINATE_FAVORITESFILES

Directory set aside for quick access to geographic coordinate systems. The contents of this directory appear in the Favorites folder on the Select Geographic Coordinate System dialog´s Library tab.

MS_GEOCOORDINATE_DATA

Directory where GeoCoordinate data is installed.

MS_ELEMENTEXPLORER_ENABLERS

This variable defines the Element Explorer Enabler applications.

MS_PROCESSEXCEPTIONLOG

Bentley i-model Composer exception.log and "minidump.dmp" management.

MS_CUSTOMIZE_REPORT_STYLESHEET

Defines the file name and location for HTML reports on templates and customizations. The default style sheet is named “customizereport.xsl” and is stored in “..\WorkSpace\System\Data”.

MS_BATCHPLT_SPECS

Sets the location of the batchplt.spc file, which contains the print specifications used by Print Organizer.

MS_FONTCONFIGFILE

Specifies the full path of the font configuration file. Default path is “$(MS_SYSFONTDIR)/MstnFontConfig.xml”.

MS_SELECTBY

Defines the directory for the selectby.rsc file to be written to and read from. The selectby.rsc is used by the Select by Attributes tool to save and retrieve sets of selection criteria. The default setting is MS_SELECTBY=$(_USTN_HOMEROOT).

MS_BUTTONMENU

Defines the file name that holds the mouse button menu. The default name is “default.btnmenu” located in the MS_DATA directory.

MS_UDLDIR

Points to the directory that contains the Universal Data Link (UDL) files. The UDL files contain the connection strings to a particular data source. The default directory is ..\WorkSpace\System\Database\Oledb\udl.

MS_DATA_PDFL

Used for internal implementation only.

MS_RASTER_DEF_DIR

If absent, there is no effect.

If present, defines the default directory to which the Attach Raster Reference menu will point to (Default raster file open directory).

MS_POINTOOLS

Points to the directory where the DLLs related to Pointools are stored.

MS_LUXOLOGY

Points to the directory where the DLLs related to Luxology are stored.

MS_ACIS

Directory containing the ACIS subsystem.

MS_SYSFONTDIR

Directory containing the system fonts.

MS_INPUT_CONFIGXML

Directory containing the "inputconfiguration.xml" file, which is used to store gesture assignments.

MS_ICONRSCLIST

Directories containing .rsc files for icons.

MS_ICONLIBRARYLIST

Directories containing .dll files for icons.

MS_ICONPATH

Directories containing files for icons.

MS_ECREPOSITORY_PROPERTYENABLER_SKIPPED_ECSCHEMAS

Used to remove certain item types from appearing in the Items dialog and Search dialog. The list is delimited by semicolons and the ECSchema names must be fully qualified with their version number, for example, “MySchema.01.00;BentleyPlant.05.00”. There is rarely a need for users to change it.

EC_EXTENSION_ASSEMBLIES

Used for internal implementation. Do not modify.

EC_BROWSER_LOAD_ON_STARTUP

Used to control whether the Items dialog automatically loads on startup.

MS_CLRUICULTURE

Used for internal implementation. Do not modify.

MS_HANDLER_LOAD

Used to control element handlers. This variable should not be changed by users.

MS_PROPERTYENABLER_APPS

Lists the applications to be loaded that are required for displaying properties in the Element Information dialog.

MS_PRODUCTCODEGUID

Used for internal implementation. Do not modify.

MSDIR_INSTALLED

Directory where Bentley i-model Composer is installed.
