Upon import, Saved Views, Extraction Views, and Column Grid Systems containing resymbolized structural members with labels, column grid layouts and dimensions are automatically created for each RAM Structural System floor location. Saved views are defined as Plan views to be referenced in sheet models when composing finished drawings. Extraction views (Drawing Manager output) continue to support the Drawing Manager method of creating Structural drawings, and may also be used to generate more saved views. Column grid system models may be used as placement grids in the Structural model.
Structural floor plan.
Column grid system models are generated as 3D models so they can be referenced in the Structural model. The model types generated for extraction views depend on the Output settings for the Drawing Definition used for Structural Plans.
Automated Structural Plan features include:
Naming convention – All saved views and models (extraction views and grid systems) are named using the RAM Structural System story name.
Project Explorer links – Navigation links are created in the active linkset in predefined Structural Plans and Column Grid Systems folders for saved views and grid models.
Generated graphics resymbolization – Symbology and layout of grid lines, dimensions, bubbles and labels are fully controllable via Drawing Settings.
Dynamic Views – Elevation Callouts are automatically placed at lateral frame locations.
Family/Part resymbolization and Drawing Rules – All resymbolized Structural members and accompanying Structural labels are automatically generated according to settings in Dataset Explorer and Structural Drawing Rules.
Imported RAM Structural System grid information is used to generate grid graphics and dimensions. Grid lines, grid labels and dimensions obey the resymbolization definitions, text styles and dimension styles set in the Drawing Settings dialog box. The generated graphics are combined with the resymbolized Structural members including labels and widgets to produce the plan view illustrated here.
Structural plan graphics are consistent in all drawings and views, and are updated whenever the Structural plan is updated or when Drawing Settings definitions are changed.
Lines – Grid Lines settings control the symbology for grid lines generated in Structural plan and elevation views.
Labels – Grid Lines settings control the orientation, text style and symbology for grid labels generated in Structural plan and elevation views.
Bubbles – Grid Lines settings control the location and symbology for grid bubbles generated in Structural plan and elevation views.
Dimensions – Grid Lines settings control the dimension style used and plot offsets for grid dimensions generated in Structural plan and elevation views.
Structural Members – Structural Drawing Rules control the resymbolized Structural members overlaid on the story grid system.
Elevation Callout – Automatically placed on lateral frame locations. Elevation Callouts are based on MicroStation's intelligent Detailing Symbols. When a Structural elevation drawing is placed on a sheet (and the sheet Drawing Title is enabled), the elevation callouts in the Structural Plan drawings automatically update with the sheet and drawing name.
Structural Plan grid element symbology is defined in the Drawing Settings dialog box's Grid Lines tab.
