Concrete Shear Capacity

For composite beams the concrete slab resists some shear force, which reduces the shear in the top Tee. The shear resistance of the concrete, Vc, is calculated as an equivalent punching shear resistance given by:

For the Vierendeel bending check the shear resistance of the concrete slab is deducted from the applied shear to determine the net shear force acting on the steel section.
