Three different types of models can be created in RAM Modeler: Gravity Only, Frame Only, and Integrated. The model type is determined by the design module or modules that will be used to analyze and design the model. This has a significant impact on the amount and type of data that needs to be input. Gravity Only
Gravity Only models are those that will be used ONLY for the analysis and design of gravity members. These models can be run only in the RAM Steel Beam Design and/or RAM Steel Column Design modules. The model should be complete gravity models including all gravity members, slab edges, deck assignments and all gravity loads.
Frame Only
Frame Only models are those that will be used ONLY for lateral frame analysis. This type of model consists only of lateral frame members and any gravity line loads, gravity point loads and nodal loads on the members.
Integrated
Integrated models are those which contain all of the information necessary for a full integrated analysis of both the gravity and lateral framing systems. These models can be run in the RAM Steel Beam Design and the RAM Steel Column Design modules for the design of gravity members as well as in RAM Frame for a lateral frame analysis.
