Selecting Assign > Column/Beam/Brace > Size opens the Assign Size dialog. From this dialog the engineer can assign new sizes to any lateral member. Select the appropriate material from the drop-down combo box at the top of the dialog. Select the appropriate size from the list box. For concrete and other materials the sizes displayed are those sizes created by the user in RAM Modeler. For steel sections the sizes shown are based on the member type and the currently selected master steel table (refer to RAM Manager). Note that only members of the material selected in the dialog can be assigned the size selected.

After a size is selected the engineer can assign the size to a single member (click Single), to multiple members (click Fence), or to all members (click All). If Single is clicked the dialog will close and a target cursor will be made available. Click on each section that you would like the size assigned too. If Fence is clicked the dialog will close and a fence cursor will be made available.

Click and drag a rectangle around all the sections that you want a size assigned to. Note that sizes are only assigned to members of the appropriate type (column, beam or brace) and of the same material selected in the assign dialog. Right-click to return to the dialog to select a different size to assign.

To view the member size permanently select the appropriate option from the View-Members Dialog.
